ABOUT NASCERE VINEYARDS

Family Owned

We purchased our estate in 2009 and soon after joined together in marriage in our backyard in 2010; the vineyard making a lovely setting for our wedding. If you come visit our winery, you will likely see our spirited boys running around enjoying the vineyard. Though we both have jobs outside of vineyard management and wine making, we pour our heart and soul into this business and are very passionate about it.

Being a small vineyard and winery allows us the ability to pay close attention to the entire process, from vine to fermentation and aging, all the way to when the cork and label go on the bottle. Expect that throughout the year you will find us bouncing from the vineyard to the tasting room.

Since we live on the estate, our grapes get the utmost attention. We are present to watch them year-round and assure they are in optimal health and are picked at the prime time to produce only the highest quality wines. Our grapes are also hand-picked and sorted, assuring only the best fruit goes into our wine.

We have a simplistic style to winemaking; we want the grapes to speak for themselves and we do everything we can to bring the story of the vine to glass in each vintage.

Our wine is made from three estate varietals every year, but we also source fruit from nearby vineyards in the Sierra Foothills. Occasionally, we venture into the Lake County and coastal areas to purchase grapes when we are looking for varieties that are grown in those regions. We feel that finding excellent grapes and especially growers that are willing to work with our specific needs is what allows us to produce unique wines in small lots.

SUSTAINABLE

We strive to be conscientious of our impact on the environment. There are several ways in which we practice sustainability. We farm our grapes organically and only apply products that are approved for organic farming. Additionally, we dry farm or irrigate our grapes as minimally as possible. We practice no till farming and we mow only when needed, leaving limited traffic in the vineyard and helping natural cover crops to dominate the vineyard floor.

When seeking to outsource grapes for winemaking, we choose the highest quality grapes from the closest vineyards possible to reduce the mileage of transporting the grapes to the winery. When building our winery, we designed it in a manner to improve energy efficiency, creating smaller rooms for tighter temperature control. We also purchased many of the building supplies, decorations, and fixtures for the winery from reuse stores. You will notice many hand-made items around the winery created from scrap metal and wood such as the bar, the large cellar door, and winery tables. In addition to grapes and winemaking, are also passionate about sustainability and being stewards of the earth.
